So you want to learn to play the guitar and you’re wondering how much a typical guitar costs and which one you should buy. If you want to play acoustic guitar, the Yamaha FG700 acoustic guitar is awesome for the price. If you want to play the electric guitar, then the Squier Bullet electric guitar is great.
These 2 guitars are by no means the best guitars you can buy obviously but for the price range, it’s hard to get something better unless you buy a used guitar.
The thing with guitars, or any other instrument, is that many beginners become inspired to learn to play but after a few months, they quit. There’s really no point in spending a ton of money on an expensive guitar only to let it sit in the closet for years and then end up in a garage sale.
It’s much better to get a decent guitar and learn to play in order to find out if you will stick to it as well as finding your style so you’ll be able to more easily choose a guitar that will fit better with how you play if you ever decide to upgrade your guitar.
The guitars recommended above, especially the FG700s acoustic guitar, is good enough where you’ll never have to upgrade unless you end up playing gigs or want something that is much higher quality.
There are guitars that are less than half the price but most of them are crap. There is one that is much cheaper but is still very good for the price and that’s the Jasmine S35. If you can spend a bit more, get the FG700s but if you want to spend as little as possible but still get a quality guitar, the Jasmine S35 is a great deal.
Getting Better At Guitar
Don’t worry about whether or not you have the talent to play the guitar. When it comes down to it, it’s all about practice and how much time you put into learning the guitar.
Start off by learning the basic chords. This is the easiest thing to do. From there, play different songs to learn more chords. Practice at least 15 minutes each day. If you want to learn fingerstyle guitar, there are free tabs you can find on sites like Songsterr.com.
People who are really good at the guitar wasn’t born with those skills. It took hundreds or thousands of hours for them to get where they are. If you want to play the guitar well, it just takes a lot of practice.
Now, some practice sessions are more effective and efficient than others. Instead of playing random songs that are easy for you, reserve a certain amount of time of your practice session to learning a new song or technique. It might not be as fun and can even be frustrating but remember, repetition is the mother of skill.
Not every practice session will be enjoyable but if you stick to it, whatever is hard today will eventually become easy if you put enough practice into it.
